About Us

RICHSS is a non-profit organization composed of parents, teachers, infants and childhood stroke survivors. We originated in Shelbyville, Kentucky and Newburgh, Indiana when Kaidhyn was born in 2005. Kaidhyn suffered a Perinatal Stroke of the left middle cerebral artery. Like many others, we did not know that children and infants suffer from strokes too. After all, strokes only happen to the elderly. Unfortunately, strokes affect children and infants as well. In 2006, we had our first Poker Run to help raise money for infant and childhood stroke research. We had several parents come out that had seen our spotlight on a local news channel in Evansville, Indiana. This was the point that our organization began to take hold. The public has little knowledge of this debilitating event.  Infants and children that suffer from stroke face many obstacles in their lives that one cannot imagine. This is why we have taken it upon ourselves to develop this organization for Parents and Individuals living in the Kentucky, Indiana and Ohio area looking for support during those trying times of dealing with infant and childhood stroke. Our mission is to help support others during their travels on the same path that we are on and to help raise Infant and Childhood Stroke awareness in the public eye where it is so often unnoticed.
